Offshore Equipment Demobilisation & UK Reimport
The Challenge
DC Global Freight coordinated the return of a substantial package of specialist offshore equipment from Nova Scotia, Canada, following its deployment in connection with the Deep Panuke offshore decommissioning project.
The operation involved numerous pieces of specialist offshore equipment of varying dimensions and weights, including high-pressure water pumps, compressors, cutting equipment, hydraulic power units, an overboard frame, umbilical equipment, offshore containers, rigging and associated tooling.
The cargo also included abnormal-length and heavy units together with equipment requiring dangerous goods handling, creating a complex multi-modal logistics operation.
Following completion of the offshore work, the equipment needed to be consolidated and transported from Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia, before shipment back to the United Kingdom and onward delivery to multiple UK destinations.
The Solution
DC Global Freight developed and coordinated the logistics programme for the equipment demobilisation and return to the UK.
The operation required coordination of the cargo from Sheet Harbour, preparation and consolidation of the various equipment packages, Canadian road transport, ocean freight and subsequent UK distribution.
Cargo was shipped from Halifax to Liverpool, where the operation required coordinated vessel discharge and handling of the specialist equipment before onward road transport.
Following arrival in the UK, DC Global Freight coordinated customs reimport procedures and the onward movement of the equipment to its respective UK destinations, including Aberdeen and Great Yarmouth.
Careful coordination between overseas partners, vessel operators, port handling teams, customs representatives and specialist road transport providers was required throughout the operation.
Execution
- Offshore equipment demobilisation planning
- Cargo consolidation in Nova Scotia
- Specialist Canadian road transport
- Heavy and abnormal cargo coordination
- Dangerous goods management
- Export and shipping documentation
- Ocean freight from Halifax to Liverpool
- Vessel discharge and UK port handling
- UK customs reimport coordination
- Specialist onward road transport
- Multiple final delivery locations
- Dedicated project logistics management
The diverse cargo profile required each equipment package to be assessed individually so that suitable transport, handling and shipping arrangements could be coordinated throughout the supply chain.
The Outcome
DC Global Freight successfully coordinated the return of the specialist offshore equipment from Nova Scotia to the United Kingdom following its deployment in connection with the Deep Panuke offshore decommissioning project.
The operation brought together international road transport, ocean freight, port operations, customs reimport procedures and final UK distribution within a single coordinated project logistics solution.
Following discharge in Liverpool, equipment was successfully routed onwards to its respective UK destinations, including Aberdeen and Great Yarmouth.
The project demonstrates DC Global Freight’s capability to manage complex offshore energy logistics, project cargo demobilisation and the international movement of specialist equipment involving multiple transport modes, cargo types and delivery locations.
